About SusanSK Jewelry
Hello and welcome. I'm Susan, the owner, designer, maker of handcrafted, artisanal jewelry that is SusanSK Jewelry.
Originally from Hastings, New Zealand, I went off 'to explore the world' back in 1990 for a couple of years (as you do) and ended up living overseas for 30+ years - in Egypt, the U.K., the U.S.A. and India. I spent most of that time working in international marketing roles, but I've always had a passion for gemstones, pearls and jewelry in general.
While back-packing solo through Asia and Egypt, I made my first major jewelry investment - spending two months worth of traveling money on Sapphires from a mine in Sri Lanka and, later, buying Citrines, Tourmalines and Sapphires from a gemstone merchant in Jodhpur, India. I've had pieces of jewelry made from some of those stones in Kathmandu - Nepal, Cairo - Egypt, and Franschoek - South Africa and, 30 years later, I still have a couple of stones unset, "waiting" for the "right design" to hit me. Or maybe I just like imagining I'm in Aladdin's Cave.
I started designing and making wire wrapped jewelry in 2019 from my home-based studio in Harlem, New York. I source my gemstones from a small number of trusted merchants in India and the USA. The freshwater pearls I use are all sourced from a family-owned and run Pearl Farm in Yiwu, China. And the Sterling Silver and Gold Filled wires and findings that I use are sourced from metal smiths in the USA.
Today, I'm lucky to have wonderful customers around the world wearing my jewelry - from Malaysia to Australia, The Cook Islands and New Zealand, to France, Germany, Spain, Canada and across the USA.
I am passionate about my work, I wear what I make (as do ALL of my family and friends) and I do my upmost to ensure that my customers love it enough to come back time and again.
I hope you love it too!
